Charity Concert, 30 June 2007, Great Hall, Exeter University
Guest compere: Emily Bruni
Emily
Bruni, former member of Exeter Children's Orchestra, is returning to Exeter
on 30th June to help celebrate the 30th anniversary concert of Richard Bowyer
as Musical Director of Exeter Children's Orchestra.
Emily is now a famous actress, most recently seen as Tamzin in Dalziel & Pascoe last month. She has many television appearances to her name such as Catherine the Great, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Miss Marple and Holby City to name but a few. She is also a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and has played in The Winter's Tale, Much Ado About Nothing, Spanish Tragedy and Camino Real.
Emily, a former pupil of St Peter's school, was a member of the orchestra between 1988 and 1992. When asked about her memories of the orchestra, Emily says:
"I was so delighted to be part of an orchestra. I learnt so much music and above all really had a lot of fun. I'm sure I crashed the cymbals a few times in the wrong moments, but you do learn quite quickly to try NOT to get it wrong when you're in the percussion section. I loved being around children who were very skilled and dedicated and genuinely very talented and I loved mixing with older children and performing, and often abroad. We even went to Russia when I was there and incredible culture shock for a 12 year old. It was an exciting stimulating environment to be a part of on many levels. I went on to do music A level, which considering the fact that I have never ever counted myself a musician was a surprising decision - being in the orchestra definitely gave me the confidence to do that."
Emily will compere the concert which, as well as celebrating Richard Bowyer's 30 years, also aims to raise money and awareness for charity the Niemann-Pick Disease Group.
