Charity Concert at the Great Hall, Exeter University, celebrating Richard Bowyer's 30 years as Music Director
30th June 2007
What a night - the ECO sound filled Exeter's grandest concert venue, to celebrate Richard Bowyer's 30 years as Music Director. The concert also supported an important charity, the Niemann-Pick Disease Group. ECO presented a thrilling mix of music from the classics to folk, jazz and film soundtracks and the orchestra sounded magnificent in the roomy acoustic of the Great Hall. Playing and listening in these surroundings was a real treat.
Our charming guest compere for this special event was star actress Emily Bruni. Emily was seen on TV in Dalziel & Pascoe just a month earlier and is a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. But more than this, Emily is also a former member of ECO.
ECO demonstrated it's impressive range in music by Handel, Mussorgsky and Glière, a Suite from Wagner's Tannhäuser, film music from Star Wars (The Phantom Menace), Apollo 13 and The Lord of the Rings (The Two Towers), plus American folk music, jazz and pop favourites.
