NEWTON ST CYRES - THE DILEMMA!
Sunday 25th June 2006...
... posed a great problem for many ECO players and their families. Should they watch England v Ecuador in the football World Cup or should they support ECO's concert at Newton St Cyres village hall?
Naturally, we all knew where our loyalties lay but we dutifully turned out for the concert! We needn't have worried. Measures had been put in place to follow the game at every stage. Radio updates were provided by Richard during the pre-concert rehearsal, and during the performance a mobile phone connection to live commentary on the match ensured that everyone knew immediately when Beckham scored the only goal! Frequent visits to the pub opposite the hall resulted in enthusiastic but increasingly incoherent descriptions of the scene at the match! This also explained why there were very few people in our audience at the village hall!
Eventually we all adjourned to Sandy and Colin's beautiful garden to enjoy a wonderful barbecue celebrating Colin's birthday. Thanks to the Harrison-Prentice family and the wonders of modern technology a memorable day was had by one and all.
