CHRISTMAS CONCERT 2005

Exeter School, Sunday 18 December

This concert took place at the slightly earlier time of 6pm on Sunday 18 December, partly due to the fact that many children did not break up for the holidays until Tuesday 20th. Also, one rather special group of children were our guests for the evening: The Poppletones. The group comprised girls and boys from Newton Poppleford Primary School and they entertained us beautifully with their handbells as the audience arrived for the concert. Not only were there mini handbell ringers, but also we were very lucky to have maxi handbell ringers in the form of the Ockment Valley Ringers as our guests too, directed by our very own Rob Willis (Tutor to the Trumpet Section)! ECO has put on many concerts with Rob's group and we always know that they will astound us with their skill and virtuosity.

The concert finished with a surprise appearance by Father Christmas. Richard had obviously gone home early, so it was fortunate that Santa was able to step in and conduct the last item on the programme! And so our last concert of 2005 drew to a close with the handbells, carols and Christmas music getting us nicely in the mood for the special season of Christmas.
