Professional coaching for ECO from BSO musicians

David Daly coaches cello section

Top orchestral professionals from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are coaching ECO's young musicians as part of the orchestra's commitment to education and supported by funding from Exeter City Council. In the first session of the project - on 13th October - five Bournemouth musicians led the rehearsals of ECO's different sections, before sitting in with the ECO players in the general rehearsal. ECO players were spurred on by the expert guidance of the BSO professionals, each one contributing a different speciality. The BSO musicians were Kevin Banks (clarinet), Phil Boyden (violin), Tony Cresci (tuba), David Daly (double bass - in action in the photo above) and Anna Pyne (flute).

ECO's young musicians were thrilled by the chance to meet and learn from members of one of the UK's top orchestras and are looking forward to the next stages of the project. The BSO's Music Director Marin Alsop recently agreed to become a patron of the ECO.
